Reflective essay on creating My personal website

The process of developing my personal site was an educational experience, which allowed me to realize the relevance of the Internet in the contemporary business environment. I selected Wix due to the simplicity of the drag and drop features, attractive templates, and the in-built capabilities to optimize it to a mobile platform. I wanted to create a professional and clean site that would portray my personality as a student of business.

One of those issues was how to organize the content in a balanced design that would be attractive both on the desktop and mobile screens. I did this by making sure that I used a responsive design, and pre-viewed every page regularly. There were also conversion centered design principles when I placed the attention to such important details as the Contact Me button, the use of similar colors, and simplified the navigation.

The given assignment helped me to realize that a personal site is not some academic project, but a digital portfolio that creates personal branding. It will enable prospective employers or partners to know my background and accomplishments as well as my ambitions. The project helped me understand the impact of design, tone and structure on initial impressions via the internet. On the whole, this experience promoted my digital marketing and made me confident enough to control my online profile.
